Strathmore
& the Glens Rural partnership PRESS RELEASE 2 March 2008
‘Just
Say Thank You’ Plans are well underway for the Strathmore & the Glens,
Volunteers Conference on Thursday, 27th March 2008 at the Redhouse,
Coupar Angus. The evening proceedings commence at 7.30pm with a welcome by
Bob Ellis, Vice-Chairman of Volunteer Development Scotland and Strathmore &
the Glens. Lesley Riddoch, Radio
Scotland Broadcaster, is the keynote speaker with a light hearted, but
serious message on ‘How to lose a volunteer’.
Other speakers during the evening are George Thomson, CEO Volunteer
Development Scotland and Tam Cassidy who will launch ‘Time Banking’ in East
Perthshire. The event will be an excellent opportunity to network and
promote partnership working with other volunteer groups in the area and there
will also be an exhibition highlighting volunteering in East Perthshire. Volunteers contribute an enormous amount to Scottish life,
with volunteering benefiting the communities in which we live, the environment,
leisure activities and individuals. In 2006 volunteering was estimated to be worth £1.8
billion to the Scottish economy with 3 million Scots volunteering on a
regular basis. If you would like to attend, please contact Sue Cole on 01828
640763 or email sue@strathmoreglens.sol.co.uk by Thursday, 20th
March. Further details
are available on www.strathmoreglens.org
