Strathmore
& the Glens Rural partnership PRESS RELEASE
URGENT
PRESS
RELEASE 29th May 2006
New Season Produce and New Stalls
at Strathmore & the Glen’s Community Market Strathmore
& the Glen’s Community Market celebrated the return of a number of regular
stallholders to the market in Blairgowrie Wellmeadow on Saturday and despite the
heavy showers there were more than 20 stalls. Customers are attracted to
the monthly market by the wide variety of produce on offer. From local lamb and
beef, free range eggs, fish, award winning preserves, seasonal fruit and
vegetables, a wide range of bedding plants, fresh and silk flowers. The market
is also an opportunity to showcase the work of the many talented craft workers
who live in East Perthshire.
Fine
Favours, Something Special Flowers and Lafrentz
made their debut at the market and have booked stalls for the rest of the
season.
The
Rattray School Marching Drum Corps played at the market in the morning and in
the afternoon the Blairgowrie and Rattray District Pipe Band filled the
Wellmeadow with the sound of pipes and created a real market town ambience.
Sue
would also like to thank all the volunteers without whose help the markets would
not be able to go ahead and who
helped erect and dismantle the stalls, especially Bob Ellis and Nick Cole who
then went on to participate in the Jock’s Road Challenge.
Willy MacLeod from the Cornerstone Restaurant, Gillian & Stephen Page
from Something Special Flowers, Aileen and Keith Davidson, Mathew McNaughton
from JJ Howe, Craig, Jenny and Liam from the Strathmore Centre for Youth
Dialogue.
Strathmore
& the Glen’s Community Markets take
place on the 4th
Saturday of the month between 10am - 3pm in Blairgowrie Wellmeadow.
