Sirolli Enterprise Facilitation Success
EAST PERTHSHIRE SIROLLI INITIATIVE SUCCESSFollowing meetings held in Coupar Angus late last year a formal submission was presented to the Scottish Executive on behalf of the communities of East Perthshire. This was part of a challenge programme being piloted across Scotland seeking 3 communities in need of economic regeneration. In contrast to previous initiatives this was to adopt a community led approach using proven methodology developed by the internationally based Sirolli Institute. The initial steering group comprising of Perth and Kinross Council, Communities Business Support Group, Scottish Enterprise Tayside and Strathmore and The Glens, presented the submission in late January. An essential part of the proposal was the donations and pledges by the wide range of supportive individuals and organisations from throughout the area, without whose invaluable support the project would not have left the starting blocks. Two communities were invited to Glasgow on Tuesday to meet Ernesto Sirolli, founder of the institute where it was announced that in conjunction with the communities of Kintyre, the East Perthshire proposal was successful. Many negotiations and contract details are still to be confirmed before work can begin in earnest. The steering group will be arranging further meetings in liaison with those who had made monetary pledges in order to form the Local Management Panel and take the project forward to the next phase.
