Eastern
Perthshire Plan set to move on with high level of community involvement
Over
90 representatives of key partners and stakeholder groups last week attended a
seminar that explained how they can become involved in the Area Based Initiative
for Eastern Perthshire and play an active part in regenerating and developing
the area.
The
main topics of the evening, which included tourism, enterprise and skills,
infrastructure and communication, allowed delegates to gain insight into and
make suggestions about how local communities could take ownership of their own
future and contribute to improving the economic and social environment of
Eastern Perthshire.
Aileen
Davidson, Chair of the Strathmore and the Glens Rural Partnership, said, “We
enjoyed an excellent turn-out for the seminar and I would like to thank everyone
who came along for contributing to the plan. Partnership working is at the heart
of these initiatives and is important in identifying needs and priorities,
focusing and delivering services and developing and delivering action plans.”
Community
Planning Partners are invited to forward any other comments on the plan to the
Council’s Economic Development Unit at 3 – 5 High Street, Perth, by 23rd
December.
Perth & Kinross Council Chief Executive,
Bernadette Malone added, “The seminar looked at a number of areas for partners
to focus on in the drive to re-energise the tourism, outdoor recreation and
agricultural diversification sectors included in the development of the Eastern
Perthshire plan.A considerable
amount of development work has been undertaken already to determine the key
issues that need to be addressed and this meeting gave us the opportunity to
give all the interested parties an up date on progress made. Many valuable contributions were made to the debate and
the plan that will help us to move on to the next stage of development.”
