Blairgowrie celebrates the Scottish Berry

The sun shone and music filled the Wellmeadow on Saturday when the Community Market played host to the Berry Festival.  Strathmore & the Glens would like to say a special thank you to everyone who supported the market on Saturday, including the Rattray School Marching Band, Grant Donald, Blairgowrie Bell Ringers, Tesco for providing refreshments for the band and Harry Potter’s car.

Blairgowrie, has long been known as the Berry Capital of Europe and is surrounded by fields of soft fruits, some of which are picked commercially and others that are pick your own. The market was an ideal opportunity to celebrate and promote the berry and its associated health benefits, especially in the fight against cancers.

Customers are attracted to the monthly market by the wide variety of produce on offer. From organic lamb and beef, free range eggs and smoked fish, award winning preserves, seasonal fruit and vegetables and a wide range of garden plants. The market is also an opportunity to support local craft workers and community initiatives.

Strathmore & the Glen’s Community Market takes place  on the 4th Saturday of the month between 10am - 3pm in Blairgowrie Wellmeadow and the next market is scheduled for 27 August.
