Strathmore & the Glens Rural Partnership

Annual General Meeting

Strathmore & the Glens held their Annual General Meeting on Thursday in the first class conference facilities of the Redhouse Hotel, Coupar Angus.

Executive Director, Sue Cole gave a presentation on what had been achieved during the past 12 months and reported that the Partnership continues to go from strength to strength.

Sue reported that the first Community Market of the season was held on 24th April  and future markets are planned for the 4th Saturday of each month in the Wellmeadow.  Whilst the May market sees the return of some old faces, Friends of Blairgowrie High School, Blairgowrie in Bloom and Wisecraft will also be attending the market.

Hits on the website www.strathmoreglens.org continue to rise and  the Voluntary and Business Directories which are hosted on the site are reported to be a valuable tool for the local community.

Strathmore & the Glens continues to work closely with many community groups across the area and are presently assisting the Local Area Tourist Board, Countryside Trust and other   community groups in the organisation of the East Perthshire Walking Festival.  Strathmore & the Glens are also represented on the Management Committee of the Strathmore Centre for Youth Development.

Sue finished her report by advising the audience that during the last 12 months Strathmore & the Glens had helped local groups attract in excess of £67,000 for projects and stressed the importance of local groups working together in a partnership of mutual trust and understanding.

Plans are in hand for the 2004 Blairgowrie Better Place to Live Fair, which is being held on Saturday, 5th June in Blairgowrie Town Hall.  Sue asks that any community groups interested in taking part to contact her on 01828 640763.  Further details will shortly appear on the Partnership website.

Details of the work of the partnership can be found at www.strathmoreglens.org.
