PRESS RELEASE

BRINGING VOLUNTARY GROUPS TOGETHER

volgrps2004.JPG (71627 bytes)

A meeting was held by Strathmore & The Glens last Wednesday 21st April in the Royal Hotel Blairgowrie, to bring all or most of the voluntary groups together in the area to get them to pass on information to each other and see if there was a common thread by which a working relationship could be formed.

It is fair to say that their was a good response from the groups and a good meeting took place with everyone giving the remit of their own group and also what plans they had down on paper for the months ahead. Not surprisingly, many of the groups were all working towards the same aim and there were lots of duplication of effort taking place.

It was also agreed that local groups should consider becoming members of Strathmore & The Glens in order to make it easier to attract funding and receive assistance in filling in the various lengthy and intricate funding forms.

Unfortunately, not all groups managed to attend for one reason or another, so if there are any groups who couldn't manage along and would like to know more please get in touch with Sue Cole on 01828 640763. Sue emphasised that ‘we did not intentionally miss anyone out, so apologies to those who were contacted too late or who did not receive the message’.

Strathmore & The Glens are holding their Annual General Meeting this Thursday, 29th April in the Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus to which anyone who has an interest in the area is welcome to attend. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.

Details of the work of Strathmore & the Glens, including their  forthcoming AGM, can be found on their website www.strathmoreglens.org, together with details of their Strathmore Business Directory giving details of over 500 local businesses.
