Strathmore
& the Glens Rural partnership PRESS RELEASE Blairgowrie
Community Market
The first
community market of the year is organised for
Saturday, 24th April and every 4th
Saturday of the month thereafter from 10am to 3pm in Blairgowrie Wellmeadow.
The market
are run on a not for profit basis by Strathmore & the Glens Rural
Partnership and when allocating stalls priority will always be given to
vendors/groups from the local area.
The Partnership sub-contract the expertise of Hazel’s Events to hire
stalls and deal with the co-ordination and running of the market. The
Community Market has a number of aims: ·
To provide a
source of healthy, affordable and tasty food for the residents of East
Perthshire; ·
To promote a
positive image of Blairgowrie and to contribute to the economic regeneration of
the area; ·
To
contribute to the health and sustainability of East Perthshire and Strathmore
agriculture by providing outlets for small local producers; ·
To create a
friendly, accessible and pleasing space where everyone can feel welcome –
promoting links between all members of the community; the public, shoppers,
businesses and visitors. The markets
also promote the economic and environmental advantage of locally produced food
where use of fossil fuels in transportation and wasteful packaging are kept to a
minimum. If you would
like to book a stall please contact our Market Co-ordinator, Hazel McFadzean on
01738 451188, Mobile: 07968 804284. Stalls
are available at £35. We are also
looking for schools, choirs, bands, orchestras, local musicians or street
entertainers who wish to celebrate their talents and raise funds by entertaining
those who attend the market. Any
local chefs who would like to promote local produce would also be more than
welcome. Interested parties should
contact Sue on 01828 640763 for further information. Details of
the work of Strathmore & the Glens, including their
forthcoming AGM, can be found on their website www.strathmoreglens.org,
together with details of their Strathmore
Business Directory giving details of over 500 local businesses. Sue Cole Executive
