Better Place to Live Fair - Saturday, 14th June 2003

 

10am to 2pm Blairgowrie Town Hall

Plans for this year’s fair are well underway and organisers promise that there will be something for everyone.  The Fair is a new drive to attract volunteers and  raise public awareness/celebrate the opportunities available in Blairgowrie and District.    Exhibitors this year include the Strathmore Youth Development Group, Save Cash and Reduce Fuel Poverty Team distributing free energy saving light bulbs, Blairgowrie Youth Enquiry Service, Blairgowrie & District Paths Network &  Paths for Health, Tayside Police, Library Services, Blairgowrie Genealogy Group, Coupar Angus YWCA,  Blairgowrie & District Community Learning Plan, Business in the Community,  Meigle Youth Project, Pension Services, Perth College, WRVS, Adult Resource Centre with Can-able, Alyth Tenants Association, B & T Dance Academy to name but a few.   Perth & Kinross Grants Direct will also be running a funding workshop during the day, The Ericht Art Club will be holding an exhibition of their work and members of Strathmore & the Glens will also be on hand to talk about the work of the Partnership.

There will be competitions on the day, face painting,  a display of  Highland Dance and a few surprises!     The fair is to be opened by Murdo Fraser MSP who will meet the Rattray School Marching Band Corps when they march up from the Wellmeadow at 10am.  

There is also an art competition open to Primary School Children in Strathmore, and the Glens.  There are to be prizes for three age groups and the judges want to see a drawing, painting or collage showing what makes Strathmore and the Glens such a great place for young people to live in.  Entries can be handed in to Rowanbank Community Learning Centre or Alyth Community Wing.  All entries should have name, class and school.  Closing date for entries is 9th June and the winners and other entries will be displayed at the Better Place to Live Fair.  Further information regarding the art competition can be obtained from John Corrigan, Community Learning on 01250 874234.

Whilst Volunteer’s Week takes place the previous week, the Fair will also be an opportunity to say thank you to the many volunteers who will be attending the fair.  Entry to the fair is free – further information is available from Sue Cole, 01828 640763.
