Strathmore Food Festival - "bringing the community together"

Strathmore & the Glens Rural Partnership are working with Community Learning and the Local Area Tourist Board to organise a number of events in this area under the umbrella of the Perthshire Food Festival.

A Community Market is to be held on Saturday. 26th April from 10am – 3pm in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowrie.  The aim of the market is to promote the quality and diverse range of produce and workmanship from the Vale of Strathmore and bring a market town ambience to the centre of Blairgowrie.  Further details are available from Hazel MacFadzean, who is organising the Market on behalf of Strathmore & the Glens, on 01738 451188.

As part of the Food festival we would like to produce a programme of events to celebrate ‘food’ throughout Strathmore, during the week (26th April – 3rd May), and this is where we would like your help.  If your group would like to hold a health awareness/food related event, i.e. cooking skills, tasting, competitions, shows etc, please register your interest by completing and returning the on line form by 3 March.

The Food festival will be promoted in the local papers, the web sites of the Perthshire Food Festival and Strathmore & the Glens and featured in the Perthshire Food Festival Brochure – distribution of 30,000 throughout Perthshire.

Strathmore & the Glens are also producing a cookery book called ‘Taste of Strathmore’ and are busy collecting recipes using local produce or favourite local delights.  If you would like to participate please forward your contribution to Sue Cole at Strathmore & the Glens. Community Learning also plan to organise literacy & numeracy events during the week, so if you need help in converting ‘ozs’ to ‘grams’ or 'pints' to 'litres', don’t despair, help will be there….

If your group would like to offer a community event during that week, let us know about it.
