Strathmore
& the Glens Rural partnership Strathmore
& the Glens Rural Partnership meets targets and are planning the year ahead. Production of the
Directory of Voluntary Groups and Organisations highlighted the number and
diversity of groups in the area and has proved a valuable resource not only to
the residents of the area but to service providers in reaching their clients.
6,000 copies were delivered throughout Strathmore and the Directory is
now available on-line at www.strathmoreglens.org
. The Website is also proving to be a valuable source of local information,
with development of the site being an ongoing process.
The on-line Directory of Voluntary Groups & Organisations is easily
amended so information is up-to-date - however, in order for the directory to be
maintained up-to-date they are reliant on local groups advising them of any
changes. Free access to the website
can be made at Blairgowrie library. The Annual Better Place to
Live Fair held in Blairgowrie continues to go from strength to strength and
plans for this year’s fair are well underway.
As last year, they will also be including a Funding Workshop and they
urge groups to start making their ‘wish lists’ as help will be on hand to
help find those exclusive funds. A Community Market is to
be held in Blairgowrie on 26 April, to start this year’s Strathmore Food
Festival. It is being organised
along the lines of a Farmers Market but will also be an opportunity for local
craft-workers and local groups to participate.
Working in partnership with Blairgowrie Community Learning and the Local
Area Tourist Board they are also organising a number of events during the week
of the festival to promote healthy eating, local produce and the hospitality in
the area. Recipes for the ‘Taste
of Strathmore’ Cookery Book continue to be collected. If you would like to participate during the Festival you are
asked to contact either Sue Cole, Strathmore & the Glens, on 01828 640763 or
Joy Scott at the Blairgowrie Tourist Information Centre on 01250 872960.
For the event to be successful they are very much reliant on community
and local businesses participation.
Strathmore & the
Glens is also in the process of developing Blairgowrie as a centre for
excellence for all outdoor activities, ski-ing, hill walking, rambling as well
as some of the more traditional field sports.
They are presently at the consultation stage with various local groups
and whilst this is a very slow process they firmly believe that time taken to
ensure that solid foundations are laid will reap benefits in the future.
Mike Cuthbert of 100 Burgh’s Trust is to be the Guest Speaker at the
Strathmore & the Glen’s Annual General Meeting on 10 March at the
Rosemount Golf Hotel when he will lead a discussion on the initiative.
If you would like any further information on the work of Strathmore & the Glens Rural Partnership please do not hesitate to contact Sue Cole on 01828 640763 or email sue@strathmoreglens.sol.co.uk.
