STRATHMORE & THE GLENS ARE SEEKING YOUR VIEWS ON HOW TO IMPROVE THE AREA

Strathmore & the Glens Rural Partnership’s principle aim is to advance sustainable development within the area across its interrelated aspects – social, economic and environment.  The Board is made up of representatives from local Community Councils, businesses, Perth College and local  Perth & Kinross Councillors.  We also have advisers from Perth & Kinross Council and Perth & Kinross Association of Voluntary Services who regularly attend our meetings.

The Perth & Kinross Rural Partnership is a mechanism through which to address the needs and opportunities of our diverse rural areas and brings together representatives from Strathmore & the Glens, Crief & West Strathearn, Highland Perthshire Communities, Carse of Gowrie and Kinrosshire Partnerships with representatives of Local Authority service departments and agencies.

More than ever rural communities and agencies in Perth & Kinross, have a mechanism through which to work together.

In order to represent the area effectively, Strathmore & the Glens need to know your views and aspirations for the area.    We would hold public meetings but we have to get you there for them to be effective.   However, we do understand that after a hard days work a public meeting is low your list of priorities.    Perhaps public meetings are not the way forward, would you prefer a questionnaire to complete?   Unless we know your views we are losing an ideal opportunity to represent the area effectively.  We are presently putting the wheels in motion for a range of incentives to raise the profile of the area, including a Shop Assistant of the Year Competition and  a Grant Funding Workshop in order to help community organisations find and apply for those elusive funds.  We are heavily involved in the Community Learning Plan Programme which is running two eight-week courses in October on Starting your own Business and a course of Complimentary Therapies.  We have also been invited to work with the Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust.

Please don’t wait until our AGM to express your views, act now and get the wheels in motion to bring prosperity back to this beautiful area.  For further information please contact our Secretary, Sue Cole 01828 640763 or our Chairman on 01250 873468.  Alternatively, you may write to Strathmore & the Glens c/o Miller Gerrard, 13 High Street, Blairgowrie, PH10 6ET
