| Strathmore Centre for Youth Development Spirit of Youth Awards - Success! Dear
All, I
would just like to bring to your attention the outstanding successes of the
Young People of Strathmore at the recent Perth and Kinross Spirit of Youth
Awards. Jasmine
Whyte and Kimby Tosh reached the final three in the Community Involvement Award
for 16-24yr olds which Kimby won. Congratulations to both of them for
reaching the final. Strathmore
Youth Forum/Users of SCYD reached the final of the Active Citizen Group Award
and were deservedly recognised for their achievements and were winners of this
award. Blairgowrie
High School reached the final of the Best Secondary Pupil Council and also
reached final three of the Group Award for their Pod Casting Club. Both
groups failed to win their group awards but they should still be congratulated
for their achievements in reaching the finals. Liam
McPherson and Gregor Massie from Alyth were nominated for the Individual Awards
12-15yr old and reached the final three for Community Involvement which was won
by Liam McPherson. The
winner of the Overall Spirit of Youth Award was Kimby Tosh. A fantastic
achievement form a young lady who has turned her life around and has inspired
others to do the same. She has become a shining example of what can be
achieved with a little support and a lot of hard work on her part. SCYD
would like to congratulate ALL the finalists but also everyone who was
nominated. SCYD would also like to congratulate Perth and Kinross Council
and for recognising the achievements of its Young People at an excellent awards
ceremony. The ceremony itself was very well organised and a big pat on the back
to all the workers and Young People who worked so hard to make the evening such
a fantastic success. I’m
sure that you would all join me in expressing congratulations to the Young
People who are doing so much within their communities to expel the negative
stereotypes that are so often portrayed of them. Best
