Blairgowrie & Rattray Easter Fair

Press Release

4th March 2008

Bob Ellis

15 Ann Street

Last Saturday saw the first day’s outing in the actual promotion of the Blairgowrie & Rattray Easter Fair.

Bob the Bunny, Caroline Shiers, Dick Richardson, Simon McCaig and six members of SCYD travelled the streets, shops and business’s in Blairgowrie going into as many outlets as time allowed. Giving out leaflets outlining the programme for the event, which is being held from the evening of the 21st March through to the 23rd March.

All of the shops and businesses welcomed the party and sweets were given out along with the selling of small knitted yellow ducks. It has to be said though that seeing a giant white rabbit walking round the town brought many stares and the snapping of cameras. A welcome break with a cup of tea was had at the offices of SCYD before heading back down to the Wellmeadow for a photograph and then onto Tesco where we were greeted by the management.

The group then went about different objectives, Caroline wrapped Mother’s Day flowers, members of SCYD did some bag packing, whilst Dick and Bob the Bunny toured the isles with more leaflets and small easter eggs, which were supplied very generously by Tesco to whom we are very grateful for their support.

It has to be said that the Bunny was welcomed by most of the younger element, with the slightly elder element entering into fun, but there were a couple of the small children who were not impressed by the giant rabbit.

It is hopped, sorry hoped that the white rabbit will be touring the town at various times of the day between now and the Easter weekend giving out the message of a fun filled weekend.

The committee is meeting on the 5th March to finalise the programme, which will then go to print and be available the week before the event.

The committee again would like to thank everyone for the support, which is being given to this inaugural event.
