Important information on Swine Influenza ( Influenza A)

You will be aware from extensive news reports that the World Heath Organisation has raised the level of influenza pandemic alert from Phase 4 to Phase 5, the second highest level indicating that they believe a global pandemic is imminent. Although there is no immediate threat to public health in Scotland a number of precautionary measures are being introduced to minimise the spread of infection.

I wanted to make you aware that we have updated the information on the Council's website at www.pkc.gov.uk/influenza

This now contains the following information:

·         Links to health information about Influenza A (H1N1)

·         Links to the public information leaflet and a comprehensive Q&A which includes information for businesses, social care and schools

·         Business continuity information and advice for businesses and voluntary agencies

·         Guidance for schools, colleges, childcare providers, vulnerable groups and the workplace

·         Guidance for infection control including a short DVD

Can I please ask you to add this link to your favorites and to share it with colleagues.  If you have an intranet in your workplace you may wish to include a link to this page on your intranet for employees.  You may also find it useful to print some of the guidance to share with colleagues who do not have access to the internet.

I hope you find this information to be useful.  If you have any additional questions that cannot be answered at
 www.pkc.gov.uk/influenza  then please email BusinessContinuity@pkc.gov.uk
